ABOUT STACY BRATTON

Stacy Bratton originally attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas to be an opera singer. She quickly realized, however, that she was on the wrong path. This realization eventually led Stacy to the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, where she studied photography.

Upon graduation Stacy made a successful living working in commercial photography, and soon married. When her first son was born Stacy took a year off, which proved to be the beginning of her career in children’s photography.

Initially, Stacy merely offered to photograph her friends’ children in lieu of other gifts. Soon enough, Stacy was receiving calls every day from mothers requesting her services. The idea of building a career and an entire studio around photographing children exclusively was unheard of at the time, and met much criticism.

Luckily, Stacy did not heed the criticism, and continued to build her business over the next several years. Eventually her husband opened a custom framing business, which he currently runs along side Stacy in their 11,000 square-foot studio in the Dallas design district.

When not behind the camera or chasing her two sons, Garrison and Ethan, Stacy is a children’s advocate, donating her time and services to over 40 DFW schools. She is also a member of SI Challenge, a nonprofit organization dedicated to building awareness of sensory integration disorders in children, as well as The Elan Circle of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra League.
