Investing in Your Legacy

I believe there are many events in this 21st century family home, where using your own digital camera or phone is perfect for the situation, good enough for family albums, and not worth paying a professional to document. But there are still times when a professional is worth every penny. As our belts tighten each month, professional portraits may feel like a luxury you can do without. In my years of watching kids grow up and move into adulthood, my clients say this was one of the best investments they ever made. They don't remember what they spent. They may remember thinking it was more than they had originally expected it to be, but they were happy to have them from the first day they picked up the final product. And even more happy each passing year. On a personal level, your portraits WILL increase in value each year.

There are very few things you will purchase this decade that will be in your home 50 years from now. I assure you, most everything will be gone 100 years from now. I’d like to think that one of my son’s photos (that I took when they were just 6 months old or right before he left home his senior year of high school) could be in the hands of my great-grandchild’s daughter. I can imagine the two of them sitting in the kitchen, discussing how much she looks just like her great-great grandmother (my mom). Pointing out that the awesome grey streak in the front of her hair came from her great grandfather (my dad), who passed away long before she was born. I don't know what will happen in the future, but I do know your pictures will be part of your family story.

“How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.”
